Hello folks!

Here's a handy round-up of our releases so far this year. It's been a busy one with records by The Senior Service, CTMF, Johnny Moped, The Killjoys & Thee Headcoats. (Plus a digital only release from The Dear Watsons.) Plenty more to come including reissues by The Milkshakes and a Billy Childish subscription-only singles club! More details to follow soon. In the meantime take a look back at our 2016 releases so far!

We've also some interesting bits 'n' bobs listed on our Discogs shop, (rarities, shop returns, last few copies, slightly battered sleeves of long out of stock items etc.) Well worth a look!

CTMF - A GLIMPSE OF ANOTHER TIME (7"/DIGI)

4 track EP from Wild Billy Chyldish & CTMF which preceded 4th album "SQ 1".

The title track of the EP is ‘A Glimpse Of Another Time’ it's a song about set seen based round Slim Chance’s Club at the Wild Western Rooms in the 1990′s (The club was out the back of the St John’s Tavern in Archway, North London) The club later moved down the road to the boston arms. Billy’s  group Thee Headcoats used to play a regular monthly stint, which explains the  EP photo from 1991 of  Billy fronting Thee Headcoats with Bruce and Johnny on that tiny, legendary – wild west themed – stage. Photo : Mr Paul Slattery

‘Ode To Citrus Heights’ and ‘Throwback’ are written and sung by JuJu, while ‘Sq 1′ is another Billy penned song.

Brand new album from Billy Childish's CTMF!

'the reason we didn't sound like the Smiths is because we wanted to sound like this'

40 years ago, Billy Childish, then a 16 year old working in Chatham dockyard, imagined a group called 'the Chatham Forts', and so started a journey through punk rock from 1977 to now. Along the way this painter/ poet has released over 140 independent LPs. (SQ 1 is something like his 150th - no one knows for sure.)

As always great lines are delivered with deadpan humour: “The reason we didn't sound like the Smiths is because we wanted to sound like this” is Billy's reply to all the reviews of his band's work during the '80 and '90s - in the days when they stood all but alone as 'the kings of garage rock' (New York Times).

SQ 1 could be seen as a manifesto of punk rock defiance, a celebration of musical independence or simply a true document home made rock and roll delivered as art, not commerce.

(Few artists have demanded and exerted so much control over their output as Childish. As with his previous LPs, all designs are undertaken by the group, from song writing, recording/producing, track listing, and LP design.)

CTMF - A Song For Kylie Minogue (7"/DIGI)

7" single from Billy Childish's CTMF!

On transparent red or transparent yellow vinyl! (each limited to 400 copies!)

A-side is taken from the band's latest LP SQ 1, and is backed with an exclusive B-side 'True'. The single is already getting played on BBC6Music

“On 'A Song For Kylie Minogue' Childish pays tribute to some of the rock stars who have paid tribute to him over the years (minus one or two big names). All true stories, we get an insight as to who has tried to stroke Childish.”

THEE HEADCOATS - CONUNDRUM (LP/DIGI)

Reissue of the classic album from 1993, Originally released on Steve Turners (Mudhoney) legendary garage label SUPER ELECTRO RECORDS in the USA and later by Billy Childish’s HANGMANS DAUGHTER Records in the UK.

It features two of their classic singles ‘Every Bit Of Me’ (originally a Damaged goods 7″) and ‘Girl From ’62 (a Regal Select single from 1991), It’s been unavailable for nearly 20 years so it seems like a good time to put that right.

THEE HEADCOATS - The Messerschmitt Pilot's Severed Hand (LP/CD/DIGI)

Reissue of a classic Headcoats album, on a choice of red or clear vinyl (or good old CD).

(The CD version is stock we have left from the original release, click the pic below to purchase the CD)

One of the best of Thee Headcoats albums, recorded in March 1997 it features a re-recording of their classic single ‘We Hate the Fucking NME’ as well as fan favourites ‘Punk Rock Ist Nicht Tot’ and ’Organic Footprints’.

“We recorded this LP live, off the cuff. Most of the song lyrics I sketched out the night before and then made up the tunes on the spot. We used 2 mic's - one for bass and drums (set up between the two) and one for voice and guitar. (both through a Selmar 15 amp). We used the old Revox G-36 1/2 track machine that we inherited off of Tony Pink, local jazz player in 1977. I've always had soft spot for this LP as it embodies my first idea of what a punk rock group would be.”

- Billy Childish

4 track digital single from Billy Childish's latest band The Dear Watsons!

“Last year my group CTMF released the LP Acorn Man to great critical success. The consensus was that we had some talent after all and had moved on. With this in mind, we decided to become The Dear Watsons - an R 'n' B wing of CTMF - who play 3rd division R 'n' B. Hopefully the critics will return to their previous conclusion that we are a musical irrelevance. Listen and enjoy.”

Yes it’s an official repressing of the debut album Cycledelic from JOHNNY MOPED following on from their new album It’s A Real Cool Baby which came out earlier in the year to critical acclaim. This version comes in a gatefold sleeve featuring the original Barney Bubbles artwork from the inner sleeve for the first time since the Belgian/Benelux edition from 1978.

Not all of the best punk-era bands were recorded, but through the farsightedness of Chiswick Records, Johnny Moped happily were.

Thirty eight years on (YES!), Cycledelic wears its dumb brilliance well.

It’s also Captain Sensible's favourite album, which can’t be bad!

The stunning debut album from THE SENIOR SERVICE, 'The Girl In The Glass Case' which was released on Damaged Goods LP/CD/Digi on the 17th June.

THE SENIOR SERVICE

Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you the debut long player from The Senior Service. A thrilling musical journey tinged with the filmic hues of bygone celluloid classics. Here you’ll find it all; excitement, action, romance, intrigue! Each song tells its own story – no words are necessary. As with all great instrumental music, it weaves its web of magic through the light and shade created from the brush of keys, plucking of strings and beating of skins, with the occasional splash of colour provided by brass, vibes and theremin (naturally) – this exquisite combination alone conjures up its narrative.

And just in case you haven't got a copy yet, we're down the last 50 or so of their debut 7" single, 'DEPTH CHARGE' (click the cover to buy)

THE KILLJOYS - Johnny Won't Get To Heaven (7"/DIGI)

Repress of classic punk single!

On 3 different colours of vinyl!  (Green, Grey or Pink)

Before Kevin Rowland discovered the joys of making menswear and even before he launched Dexy's Midnight Runners he was the lead singer in this great punk band from the Midlands. Originally called Lucy & The Lovers and more jazz orientated, Kevin caught the first of a series of wind of changes and hitched a ride on punk with his girlfriend Heather on backing vocals and the gorgeous Gem on bass whom he exploited to the full even encouraging her wearing of sexually alluring clothing!!!! One single Johnny Won’t Get To Heaven / Naive Records 1977). Raw Classic amphetamine punk!
