For those of you wondering what's happening with Billy Childish & Sexton Ming's Dung Beetle Rides Again LP a quick explanation for the delay -
With the big success and participation in this year's Record Store Day the pressing plants have been flat out pressing product and this vinyl has been put back as a result. We should have stock on or around May 17th and will be sending out any pre-orders as soon as we get the records. If you've not pre-ordered a copy as yet, click on the pic below to order from our online shop. Apologies for the delay on this one but there's not much we can do about it. Hopefully it'll be worth the wait. The digital download version is available now.
In other news Thee Spivs are about to head off on tour with new bass player Daniel, but not before their home turf gig at The Horatia on London's Holloway Road tonight as part of The Ricky C Quartet single launch. DJ Ian Damaged will be playing some top tunes as part of his special guest DJ slot. Come and say hello. No requests though, unless it's for Sparks!
***THE VINYL RELEASE IS NOW 21st MAY 2012***
* BACK FOR ONE LAST ALBUM TOGETHER *
* LTD EDITION VINYL ONLY – 500 COPIES *
Mister Childish (Buff Medways / Headcoats / Milkshakes) and Mister Ming (Diamond Gussets / Tasty Ones / TV Personalities) have been writing poetry, playing music and painting pictures together since 1979 when they formed Phyroid Press.
Their work together, documented by several LP’s and 25 small press publications, is inspired by the early DaDaists, Edward Lear, Captain Beefheart and the literature of the absurd.
The Guardian described their material as ‘An authentic output of creative play’ Billy and Sexton describe it as ‘A smoking chimney stack that falls over and crushes your wife and kids’ Curiously both are true.
This is their latest and final album, which follows on nicely from their last album ‘Here Come The Fleece Geese’ ten years ago in 2002. Similar in style to the last one, it reminds us of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore at their most diverse.
A Compilation of all their early releases is also due out in late 2012
Thee Spivs head off on another European jaunt next week with new bass player Daniel, but not before playing London tonight at The Horatia on Holloway Road. See the flyer below for more details. The band are working on a new single which will be out in the Summer.
