Holly and Lawyer Dave are back with a limited edition live album, originally available on CD as a 'tour only' release until we persuaded them that it needed to be on vinyl too.

This album features 10 tracks including Holly & The Brokeoffs standards like "Devil Do" "Medicine Water" plus a cover of the Lee Hazlewood classic "Dark In My Heart".

Holly & Dave have just released their 4th album together, "No Help Coming" on US label Megaforce.

They have just been around the USA on tour with rockabilly legend Wanda Jackson and are heading out on more US dates over the next few months then a long awaited return to Europe later this year and into 2012.

They are working on new material for their, as yet, untitled 5th album due out in 2012

*Butcher Boy - Album and single from latest DG signings*

New Damaged Goods signings Butcher Boy release their third album 'Helping Hands' on the 29th August 2011, a single 'Imperial' will be out a week before on limited 7".

Their first two albums were released on the well respected London indie label 'How Does It Feel To Be Loved' run by ex-Melody Maker journo Ian Watson and they received some excellent press, 8/10 in the NME, 4/5 in Uncut, 4/5 in the Guardian and loads more.

They are also making their second appearance in three years at the very lovely IndieTracks festival

BIOGRAPHY

Butcher Boy has existed in its current form since early 2005, but lead singer John Blain Hunt has played in various incarnations of the band since the late 1990s.

Initially, Butcher Boy didn't have any songs; John was a resolute left-hander and could barely play guitar. But he enjoyed sending anonymous poetry to local papers under the guise of Butcher Boy in the hope of engaging the writers through their columns.

Butcher Boy was about books by George Orwell and Charles Schulz… it was about films by Bill Douglas and Robert Bresson… it was about records by Vince Guaraldi and The Smiths. Butcher Boy was about an imaginary world of woods and darkness and absolute, precise beauty. About power-cuts and candles. But Butcher Boy wasn't really about songs. It was a little bit of sparkle between sickness and the dole.

*The Spartan Dreggs - Forensic R'n'B (Release date 26th September)*

After our mail order singles club earlier this year comes the debut album from Billy Childish's latest ensemble The Spartan Dreggs.

THE SPARTAN DREGGS

Songs Full of Clarity

Dear Ones,

Here be the Spartan Dreggs, Billy Chydish’s new ensemble. The Spartan Dreggs sank from the scum of the Vermin Poets — but kept the same line-up and similar songs. Once more Chydish drives from the back seat, playing tug-boat bass guitar. Wolf, of course, is playing the drum set and lead voice and guitar are supplied by the excellent Neil Palmer. Nurse Julie, with babe in arms, offers up harmony.

The Spartan Dreggs, as story has it, were left as newborns to die upon a wintry fen — then spirited away by the Gods to entertain the immortals, singing epics for the tired Muses to hum by death's door. These hymns took on a life of their own, thereby raising the suspicion of Hermes, Athena and several other deities, that they might inspire humankind to invent their own stories beyond those dreamed up by the far-seeing Olympians. So The Spartan Dreggs were cast back into this earthen mold.

DO I UNDERSTAND WHAT THE SPARTAN DREGGS BE?

If you can imagine the Vermin Poets as a beachcomber's shack assembled out of driftwood on a sand bar adjoining an intertidal marshland, then the Spartan Dreggs be made of the exact same tarpaulin and logs, but dragged up on to higher land and reassembled, with the addition of a veranda made out of a washed-up canoe. In a very real sense this all-new group is the opposite of "my grandfather's axe."

And so, disguised in Saxon garb, the Spartan Dreggs live to strike the trembling

lyre of life!

DO I KNOW WHAT THE SPARTAN DREGGS SOUND LIKE?

Like a small child who has just said the best thing that's ever been said, but no one is listening, so do the Spartan Dreggs proclaim their songs. But there is still a sense that no one will ever harken to this new-found choir, heard for the first and last time in a stricken world. Nevertheless, the Spartan Dreggs utter song and sooth for all.

Signed: The Dreggs of Yore.

"And then the Thunderer rested and the words fell out his ears!"
