The Cute Lepers…as I’m sure you know, are a six/sometimes seven-piece band from Seattle in the USA, equally influenced by first wave punk, mod-revival, power pop, with the spirit of Johnny Thunders...together with occasional hints of doo-wop, early 60's rock 'n' roll and a load of female back-up vocals. Led by chief songwriter Steve E. Nix & Kicks (yes that’s Steve E. Nix & Kicks from seminal Seattle band The Briefs!).

After a couple sold out singles and lengthy tours of the United States and Europe, summer 2008 their debut album "Can't Stand Modern Music" was released on DG in Europe and Blackheart Records (yeah... the label Joan Jett started up a few decades ago!), it combined the attitude of punk rock, the style of mod, and the polished sound of pop. The album went on to win the Best Punk Album category in the 8th Annual Independent Music Awards. This was quickly followed by their second album “Smart Accessories” and another huge world tour.

Their third album "Adventure Time" is available on CD, download or a choice of white or blue vinyl. Click on the pic to preorder. It follows the same strict rules for classic pop-punk and Duncan Reid from legends ‘The Boys’ wrote a the track ‘77’ for the band after seeing them in Europe last year.

A full European and US tour starts in April, including the UK in may and the Rebellion festival in Germany on May 1

*Thee Spivs - Radio 7" (Release date 24th April*

A limited GREEN vinyl 7” for their upcoming European tour. Click on the artwork to pre-order.

We wanted something special to release for the tour and the new album is still months away, so over a few beers and some very nice pizzas in a Hackney pub we came up with the idea of a German vocal on the first track on their debut album as a nod to the great bands of the sixties who did this on a regular basis.

So, with a little help from our friends at Cargo Germany Ben re-recorded the vocals in German for this double ‘A’ side 7”

They have also just finished recording the first half of their second album which will be out later in 2011

*Releases for Record Store Day*

*A couple of releases especially for Record Store Day, obviously the point of these is that they're to be bought from your local indie store. If there are any left over we shall of course put them up for sale on the site*

*Talulah Gosh - Demos EP 7"*

4 track 7” featuring the first tracks ever recorded by Talulah Gosh, Recorded in early 1986 by then Razorcut, Gregory Webster at his house in Oxford. This was mastered from Amelia’s original cassette of which around 10 copies were made and sent out to John Peel and a few indie labels.

A brand new compilation is due for release this summer with all their recorded tracks, plus their BBC sessions and a few surprises, Everett True is doing the extensive sleeve notes.

Talulah Gosh were a guitar-pop group from Oxford and one of the leading bands of the twee pop movement/C86, taking their name from the headline of an NME interview with Clare Grogan. They supposedly formed when Amelia Fletcher and Elizabeth Price, both wearing Pastels badges, met at a club in Oxford. Formed in 1986, their original line-up comprised Amelia Fletcher (vocals, guitar), her younger brother Mathew Fletcher (drums), Peter Momtchiloff (lead guitar), Rob Pursey (bass) and Elizabeth Price (vocals). Rob left early on, to be replaced by Chris Scott. Elizabeth left in 1987 to be replaced by Eithne Farry. They called it a day in late 1988 with Amelia, Matthew and Peter reappearing soon after as ‘Heavenly’.

*Billy & The MBE's - Mama Rolling Stone 7"*

Here’s an exclusive 7” to mark the start of Damaged Goods being distributed by Red Eye in the USA as well as Record Store Day 2011.

This single features couple of brand new tracks from the MBE’s. Both alternate versions from those which will appear on their next full album which is due later in 2011.

For a change these are both covers of classics from the 60’s, ‘Mama Rolling Stone’ was best know when The Who used to do it as ‘Daddy Rolling Stone’, appearing on the b-side of their 1965 single ‘Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere’

And ‘Little Latin Lupe-Lu was originally a hit for The Righteous Brothers, later covered by Mitch Ryder, Bruce Springsteen and many more.

Have a great weekend!
